From the moment you walk out of your tent at Nkonzi Camp, you are on safari in one of Africa’s finest wildlife destinations, the South Luangwa. We are surrounded by pristine grassy plains and ancient forests, a dry, sandy riverbed and the ancient paths of elephant and hippo. It’s one of the least-known but most rewarding game viewing areas in the park where there’s no driving for miles to catch a glimpse of a buffalo or the flicker of a lion’s whisker; it all happens right here.
All of our walking safaris and game drives begin and end at camp, and can head north, east, south or west into miles and miles of untouched wildlife habitats. Then, at the end of the day, return to camp and look up at the sky: with zero light pollution and panoramic views of the Milky Way, Nkonzi Camp is perfectly positioned for stargazing.
As remote and unspoiled as Nkonzi is, the bonus is that it’s still easily accessible. The main gate of the South Luangwa is a 45-minute drive, and Mfuwe International Airport is approximately 1.5 hours by road. Both of these drives are game-viewing experiences in themselves and sometimes, the best wildlife sightings happen when you least expect them!
For guests traveling by road, our small office near the park entrance offers secure parking for the duration of your stay.
